Founded in 1982, the UIC Program in Entrepreneurial Studies (IES) has grown into a nationally acclaimed program. Success Magazine recently ranked UIC as having the 3rd best entrepreneurship program in the country. In addition, IES has recently been named one of five national winners of the NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.

The IES program has also received the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. USA Today cited UIC with Wharton, NYU and USC as having one of the few "complete programs in entrepreneurship". UIC has also won the "Supporter of Entrepreneurship" award from Ernst and Young and Inc. Magazine.

UIC's College of Business Administration, ranks in the top 20 percent nationally, serves 800 graduate and 2,500 undergraduate students, and 60 PhD candidates.
